Postsecret was twittering life equations the other day.
Some of my favorites:
(noon + pajamas) = (life – job)
My relatives + 400 miles = painless
I saw my therapist on Wednesday evening. My therapist who I haven’t visited in over a year. My therapist who very clearly changed many parts of my world, my life. It was one of the best decisions I’ve made recently.
She helped me realize a few situational life equations of my own.
24 hours – 17 hour work days – 7 hours sleep = 0
a long day + 3 drinks to wind down = exhausted x 10
anger – treatment = depression

I like these equations. Here’s one that’s true in my life:
Life + Sister = Happier Existence
I’m thinking happy thoughts for you.

Childhood + BigSis = lessons I could learn just by watching
Adulthood + BigSis = having a best friend who is also a relative

Val Kilmer said it best as Gallagher in Red Planet: “This is it. That moment they told us in high school where one day, algebra would save our lives.”
I really like that quote, but I like your equations just as much. Math is the universal language and I think you’ve hit on some basic principles here.

I hated math in high school. But I am relieved to hear that love is not the universal language!
